What was happening?

The A435 Cycleway Section 2 Phase 2 project was intended to improve connectivity between Cheltenham and Bishop’s Cleeve by creating a shared-use cycleway and footway. The published plans included a full closure between Cheltenham Racecourse roundabout and the Hyde Lane/Southam Lane junction, followed by a northbound closure. Pedestrian and cyclist access was expected to remain open.
